The Royal Wedding

My little prince woke me up bright and early this morning to feed so I turned on the TV and watched Prince William and Kate Middleton say their vowels. She looked so beautiful and he looked so handsome. Zephyr you won't remember this day, but you are 5 months 9 days old.

5 Months Old

This post is almost a week late, but Zephyr you are now 5 months old. You have changed soo much just in the past month. You can now

- Grab toys.
- You are always trying to sit up. It looks like you are doing crunches.
- Bath time is your absolute favorite time of day. At the end of your bath time I stand you up and let you splash your feet in the water. You get soo excited and splash like crazy with the biggest smile on your face.
- You now put everything in your mouth, we're pretty sure your teething.
- You found your feet in the past few weeks and you will grab at them even when you're crying.
- You love your Daddy, but you're such a Mommas boy(I don't mind one bit though).
- You still wake up a few times a night to feed then go right back to sleep.
- You smile and giggle all the time.

Zephyr, your Mom and Dad love you very much and feel so blessed that we get to be your parents. You make us smile and laugh constantly and have definitely made our lives soo much brighter.

My Sick Baby Boy

Zephyr has his first really bad cold. He started coughing last Tuesday and progressively got worse. I took him to see the doctor and he has an upper respiratory infection. The nurse told me if he started running a temp to call because he could possibly develop an ear infection with all of the drainage.

Well...sure enough that night he started running a low grade fever and was very cranky. I hated seeing him so sick and knew he really wasn't feeling good when even his momma couldn't console him. I took him back to the doctor the next day and he had the beginning of an ear infection in his left ear. He's now on an antibiotic and still has a nasty cough, but no fever.

I'm so glad Zephyrs back to his smiley, giggling self. That little boy has got his mom and dad wrapped around his little finger.

Birth Story Part.2

Sean and I got to the hospital around 1:30 pm and found out I was only 2 1/2 cm. By 5:30 that afternoon I still was not having contractions. The midwife decided to start me on pitocin. I started having hard contractions and by 11:30 they gave me stadol and one other pain medication. The medicine didn't seem to help me at all. I remember telling everyone I was seeing double I was beyond drugged, and the medicine wore off fairly quickly.

Around 12:30 in the morning(keep in mind at this point my water had been broke for around 17 hours) the midwife checked me and I was 6 cm. I had gone into child birth hoping I could make it through the labor pain without an epidural. There was no way I could make it any longer. At least not with a nurse that was a pitocin Nazi.ha! I was giving an epidural and within minutes I went from a 6 to an 8. I got some rest for the next few hours and by 6 in the morning I was fully dilated!!!!!

I started pushing and the midwife told me I still wasn't having consistent contractions. Also at this point my epidural was wearing off and I basically had to push when I felt the most pain, because I never had the urge to push. My midwife was starting to get frustrated not necessarily with me, but with the situation. I was having a hard time pushing and with the pain coming back with full force I was growing very weary. Sean was awesome the whole time he was right there beside me cheering me on and massaging me through each contraction. To be continued......
