First Father's Day

Happy First Father's Day to my wonderful husband, and the best dad in the world!!! Today was such a nice day. We had a few family stay the night because their power went out late last night. It was like having a big slumber party. We got up this morning and had a great breakfast, and relaxed the rest of the afternoon. The evening ended with my family all getting together at my parents house for a cookout and swimming. Here are some great pictures of Zephyr with his awesome Daddy.

1/2 A Year Old!

My sweet baby boy is 6 months old! He is growing up soo fast and I am just trying to savor every little moment. It seems like just yesterday he looked like this.

And now this.

Sweet baby boy you have gotten so big. You are so much fun at this age and keep your mom and dad very entertained, and busy. We love you sweet boy and can't believe how fast you are growing. You can now...

- Sit pretty much unassisted
- Roll over
- You just started solids and are not a big fan of them, as you can see in this picture.

- You make a hissing sound all the time and it's the cutest thing.
- Your hair is still really red and people comment on it every where we go.
- You cut your first tooth a few days after you turned 6 months.
- At your 6 month appointment you weighed 15 lbs 11.5 oz and were 26 in. long.
- You wear size 3-6 month clothes and size 2 diaper.
- You still love bath time and love to grab the wash cloth and suck water out of it.
Here's a few more of my favorite photos from this past month. I love you baby boy I can't wait to see what new things you will learn the next 6 months.

The Royal Wedding

My little prince woke me up bright and early this morning to feed so I turned on the TV and watched Prince William and Kate Middleton say their vowels. She looked so beautiful and he looked so handsome. Zephyr you won't remember this day, but you are 5 months 9 days old.

5 Months Old

This post is almost a week late, but Zephyr you are now 5 months old. You have changed soo much just in the past month. You can now

- Grab toys.
- You are always trying to sit up. It looks like you are doing crunches.
- Bath time is your absolute favorite time of day. At the end of your bath time I stand you up and let you splash your feet in the water. You get soo excited and splash like crazy with the biggest smile on your face.
- You now put everything in your mouth, we're pretty sure your teething.
- You found your feet in the past few weeks and you will grab at them even when you're crying.
- You love your Daddy, but you're such a Mommas boy(I don't mind one bit though).
- You still wake up a few times a night to feed then go right back to sleep.
- You smile and giggle all the time.

Zephyr, your Mom and Dad love you very much and feel so blessed that we get to be your parents. You make us smile and laugh constantly and have definitely made our lives soo much brighter.

My Sick Baby Boy

Zephyr has his first really bad cold. He started coughing last Tuesday and progressively got worse. I took him to see the doctor and he has an upper respiratory infection. The nurse told me if he started running a temp to call because he could possibly develop an ear infection with all of the drainage.

Well...sure enough that night he started running a low grade fever and was very cranky. I hated seeing him so sick and knew he really wasn't feeling good when even his momma couldn't console him. I took him back to the doctor the next day and he had the beginning of an ear infection in his left ear. He's now on an antibiotic and still has a nasty cough, but no fever.

I'm so glad Zephyrs back to his smiley, giggling self. That little boy has got his mom and dad wrapped around his little finger.

Birth Story Part.2

Sean and I got to the hospital around 1:30 pm and found out I was only 2 1/2 cm. By 5:30 that afternoon I still was not having contractions. The midwife decided to start me on pitocin. I started having hard contractions and by 11:30 they gave me stadol and one other pain medication. The medicine didn't seem to help me at all. I remember telling everyone I was seeing double I was beyond drugged, and the medicine wore off fairly quickly.

Around 12:30 in the morning(keep in mind at this point my water had been broke for around 17 hours) the midwife checked me and I was 6 cm. I had gone into child birth hoping I could make it through the labor pain without an epidural. There was no way I could make it any longer. At least not with a nurse that was a pitocin Nazi.ha! I was giving an epidural and within minutes I went from a 6 to an 8. I got some rest for the next few hours and by 6 in the morning I was fully dilated!!!!!

I started pushing and the midwife told me I still wasn't having consistent contractions. Also at this point my epidural was wearing off and I basically had to push when I felt the most pain, because I never had the urge to push. My midwife was starting to get frustrated not necessarily with me, but with the situation. I was having a hard time pushing and with the pain coming back with full force I was growing very weary. Sean was awesome the whole time he was right there beside me cheering me on and massaging me through each contraction. To be continued......

Birth Story Part.1

Zephyr is here!!!!! He arrived four days early on November 20, 2010 @ 10:03am. He weighed 7lbs 7 oz and was 20in long. Here is my birth story.

On November 19 I woke up around 7:15 in the morning and within about a minute I heard a pop and out gushed lots of water. Thank goodness just that week we had put a mattress protector on the bed. I woke Sean up immediately and told him my water had broke. He was just a little shocked, "but said lets go back to sleep". There was no way I could sleep knowing I was about to become a Mom!!!!!! I was so excited, but nervous at the same time. I pretty much had everything ready to go. I had all the bags packed and the house was spotless from all of the nesting I had been doing. We stayed around the house until around 10:30 I still had no contractions at this point except for a few braxton hicks. We still didn't head strait for the hospital. We went to Chick-fil-A, then to Target so I could get some house shoes for the hospital. Still no contractions so we went to the mall to walk. We walked for about an hour, but I still didn't feel anything. Around 1:00 we decided to head for the hospital to see if maybe I was progressing, but didn't know it(which believe me I now know what I contraction feels like and I wasn't having any). To be continued......
